8th Annual Tea Mardi Gras theme ths year

The 8th Annual Tea at the Caladium Arts & Crafts Cooperative is set for Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017. Each year the Tea has a different theme. The large back room, classroom area of the Co-op, will be transformed with lots of purple, green and gold to reflect the theme of Mardi Gras.  The Tea will be held at the Caladium Co-op 132 E. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. Hours of the event are 2 to 4pm, doors open at 1pm.

Much is planned starting with a selection of afternoon teas, tea sandwiches including 2 vegan choices, fruit breads, pastries and sweets. A fashion show presented by Chic Chick Boutique, door prizes, a crazy auction, and of course, a hat contest. Each year many Tea attendees are also participants in the hat contest with a nice prize to the winner. Since the theme is Mardi Gras there will also be a mask contest with prizes.

“It’s a fun afternoon for a couple of friends or a group to enjoy.” said Gayle Wilkins after watching last year’s Victorian Tea from the kitchen area while preparing the food. “I wasn’t sure if a Tea would be anything I might enjoy, but after watching everyone and listening to all the positive remarks last year, that changed my mind. It a great excuse to dress up a little and put a big hat on.”

This event has limited seating to 144 people. Tickets are now on sale at the Co-op for $25.00 per person plus tax. There are eight seats per table and you may choose your seating for yourself and friends. Stop by the Co-op and reserve your table now so you don’t miss out on this event.  The new hours for the Caladium Co-op are Monday through Saturday 10am to 4pm. Now open Mondays until April.

The Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-operative is a membership-driven 501c-3 non-profit organization. Proceeds from this event go to the daily operating expenses of the Co-op and help to promote the arts through classes and education. Classes are held weekly for children and adults.
